John Baxter 1912-1966
Painter, Sculptor

John Baxter received a degree from UCLA in 1933. A self-taught sculptor, he made assemblages of weathered stones and driftwood gathered on the beach. His paintings are non-objective bio-morphic and evoke the influence of nature and Eastern philosophy. He was curator of education at the San Francisco Museum of Art during 1956.
